        Just a Taste

I'm an accidental photographer, baguette lover, and rescue dog mom. Currently obsessed with fancy toast, gin & tonics, and shopping at Target. Ravenclaw. Read on to learn more.

I'm the self-taught chef and photographer behind Rosemary + Rye.

My life revolves around food good food! There is so much joy in making something with your hands and having your creation bring people together. My favorite memory growing up was having dinner at my grandmother’s house with all of my family. To this day, all our gatherings involve food! The tasty treats, the company, and the memories are ones that I’ll keep forever!

I’m a self taught cook – almost everyone in my family is an amateur chef. I grew up making ice cream with my mother, baking cakes with my aunts, trying delicious new cuisines with my cousins, the list goes on and on! I’ve been cooking with my family for as long as I can remember. In fact, I recently unearthed my earliest recipe while cleaning… In the first grade, I had written and illustrated a recipe for carrot soup! #bloggerfromthestart. My family bonds over food, so naturally cooking has been a constant throughout my life as well!

Here, on the blog, I’ll be sharing recipes that I’ve created through experimentation or learned from my family. My recipes all stem from me making a mess in the kitchen – it’s my favorite part! For me, cooking is a relaxing experience. It’s my happy place and I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I do!

I grew up in a family that was strictly vegetarian. My grandmother doesn’t even eat eggs! While I fell off the bandwagon for a short period of time in college, I decided to move R+R over to being 100% vegetarian – meaning my recipes will be meat free and any dairy and eggs will be ethically sourced. There may be some older recipes on the blog that include meat, but the newer ones will be veg. You can read more about it here.

I may have grown up not eating meat, but my husband is the exact opposite. So, one of the hardest things about cooking vegetarian meals for our family is normalizing the fact that vegetables can be the star!

That is my goal for every recipe you find on this site – the make vegetarian cooking accessible, and most importantly – tasty!

Of course, I can’t do it all on my own. I get by with help from my little crumb catcher / rescue pup / BFF, Harper; newest puppy addition, Ruby; certified picky eater / sous-chef /husband Nick; and my entourage of loving family members who try my recipes and offer suggestions to make them even better.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoy!

You can never go wrong with a good glass of vino. Or two.

I cook with wine. Sometimes I even add it to the food.
