Have you watched the Great British Bake Off (aka #GBBO aka Great British Baking Show in the good ol’ US of A)?!?! If you haven’t, stop what you’re doing, buy a loaf of crusty french bread and binge watch it NOW. This beautiful cooking competition is on Netflix or PBS and it’s nothing like the shows we have in the US. You’ll be hooked. Promise.
Seriously, I’ve been obsessed and binge watched like 3 seasons and the Masterclasses already… In the “Masterclass”, judges Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry teach you how to make the dishes the contestants are challenged with! It’s a great way to get out of your comfort zone. I’ve already learned to bake ciabatta, make my own filo pastry, and make a Croatian Povitica!
If you’re a fan like me and are inspired to get baking, you can order the GBBO companion books like this one and this one on Amazon. Or to step it up a notch, you can throw a GBBO competition / party of your own like my friend Chrystina! Check out her tips here.
Cookbook Cooking Inspiration
Recently I’ve also been loving the beautiful recipes and photography in Yotam Ottolenghi’s book “Sweet“. I’m dying to test out some of his recipes so check out my Instagram for pictures of how they turn out!
I’ve also added a few new cookbooks to my library in the past month from some of my favorite chefs and bloggers. I’m loving all the creative inspiration vibes I’m getting!
- Half Baked Harvest Cookbook
- Love Real Food by the Author of Cookie + Kate
- Bread Illustrated: A Step-By-Step Guide to Achieving Bakery-Quality Results At Home by the makers of Cook’s Country and America’s Test Kitchen
- Sweet by renowned chef Yotam Ottolenghi
I’ve been inspired with all the holidays coming up, of course. I’m making some yummy fall dishes, Oktoberfest brews, spooky Halloween concoctions, and much more! Make sure you keep an eye out on the blog for more recipes!
Let’s get cooking!
