        New Year, New You

It’s the time of year to start thinking about New Year’s Resolutions. Some people are firm believers in starting the year out with goals while others scoff at the very thought. I’ll be honest, I love setting goals for the year. It gives me a sense of purpose and excitement. Over 40% of Americans set some goals for the year but get discouraged when only 8% of these resolutions are ever realized! The 92% of failed resolutions are because these goals just aren’t “SMART”.

We should all just make resolutions like this one:

Let me clarify – the goals themselves aren’t stupid. They just aren’t: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic or Relevant, and Timely (or SMART for short!). It is a framework for setting achievable goals with clear guidelines for how you define success. I’ve put together a little worksheet that you can use to create SMART New Year’s Resolutions below. Print it, write on it, stick it on your fridge – let’s start 2017 with a strong start!!

Got a great resolution? Post it in the comments below!
