Union Station on King Street
Union Station is Rosemary & Rye’s new venue, located in the heart of downtown Charleston. The open, flexible space can be arranged for a wide range of events, from seated dinners and company gatherings to weddings and larger cocktail-style celebrations.
Because Rosemary & Rye operates Union Station and handles all catering and bar service in-house, we can plan how the space, menu, and service will work together for your event. Tables and chairs are included with the venue, giving you a starting point as the rest of the details take shape.
What to consider when choosing a venue.
Your venue affects more than the look and location of your event. Its policies, amenities, and available working space can also influence your catering proposal, rental needs, staffing, and service plan. Asking the right questions before signing a contract can help you build a more accurate budget and avoid surprises later.
Catering and Bar Policies
Some venues provide food and beverages in-house, while others allow you to select from a preferred vendor list or bring in an approved outside caterer. Before booking, confirm which options are available and whether there are separate requirements for catering and bar service.
Rosemary & Rye is proud to be a preferred catering and bar partner at many venues throughout Charleston and the Lowcountry.
Venue Impact Fees
Some Charleston-area venues charge caterers and other event professionals an impact fee for working on the property. This may be a flat fee or calculated as a percentage of the services provided.
Impact fees are established by the venue. When one applies, Rosemary & Rye includes it in your proposal and passes the collected amount along to the venue. It is not a Rosemary & Rye service charge, and we do not determine or control the amount.
Because this fee can affect your total catering or bar investment, ask each venue whether an impact fee applies before you book.
Planning Requirements
Many venues require weddings and other large events to have a planner or coordinator. The exact level of planning support required will depend on the venue, so be sure to review its policies carefully.
For weddings, Rosemary & Rye also requires an assigned event planner who can serve as our point of contact during the event. If a question, timeline change, or unexpected situation arises, our team needs someone who can make decisions and coordinate with the other vendors. We never want to interrupt the couple or ask them to manage event logistics on their wedding day.
Kitchen and Preparation Space
A beautiful venue does not always include a catering kitchen. Before booking, ask what food preparation space is available and whether it includes power, water, refrigeration, ovens, and adequate room for the culinary team.
If the venue does not have a suitable kitchen, or if food preparation will take place outdoors without a fully covered and enclosed workspace, a catering cook tent may be required. The tent creates a protected area for our culinary team and helps keep food and equipment safe from rain, insects, leaves, dirt, and other outdoor debris.
Cooking Equipment
If your menu includes hot food but the venue does not have ovens or appropriate cooking equipment, additional equipment will need to be rented. These rental costs are separate from the venue rental and should be considered when comparing both venues and menu options.
Our team will review the available facilities and determine what is needed to prepare and serve your selected menu properly.
Included Rentals and Amenities
Ask what is included with the venue rental. Tables, chairs, linens, china, flatware, glassware, bar equipment, prep tables, and other event essentials are not provided by every venue.
Rosemary & Rye does not provide rentals directly. However, once your food and bar selections are finalized, our team will provide a detailed list of the items needed to support your menu and service style, along with our recommended quantities. We are also happy to work with you, your planner, and your rental company to help ensure the necessary pieces are accounted for.
Access and Event Logistics
Consider where food will be prepared in relation to where guests will dine. The farther food must travel, particularly through outdoor areas, stairs, elevators, or multiple buildings, the more challenging it can be to maintain its temperature, freshness, and presentation.
A longer or more complicated service route may require additional staff, equipment, or preparation areas to ensure meals reach your guests promptly and as intended. Our team will evaluate these logistics during the planning process and account for them in your service plan.
Indoor and Outdoor Options
If any portion of your event will take place outside, understand the venue’s weather plan and whether the indoor backup space can comfortably accommodate your guests.
You should also confirm who is responsible for making weather-related decisions, when those decisions must be made, and whether moving indoors will affect the layout, rentals, staffing, or service plan.
Timing and Restrictions
Confirm the venue’s rental hours, vendor access times, noise ordinances, event end time, and cleanup requirements. Some properties may also have restrictions related to décor, candles, music, alcohol service, or where food and beverages may be served.
These policies can affect your timeline and the amount of time available for our team to set up, prepare, serve, and break down your event.
Places we know and love.
The reputation we have built within the Charleston hospitality community has allowed Rosemary & Rye to become a preferred catering and bar partner at nearly every local venue that welcomes outside food and beverage providers.
With so many wonderful venues throughout Charleston and beyond, it would be nearly impossible to include every place where we can work. The list below includes many of the venues our team visits regularly, but it is not a complete list.
Venue addresses, capacities, and other details are provided as a general reference and may change over time. Please confirm all information directly with the venue before booking.
Don’t See Your Venue Listed?
There are more venues in Charleston and the Lowcountry than we can include on this page. If yours isn’t listed, we may already work there or have catered an event there before.
If the venue is new to us, our team will connect with its manager and arrange a walkthrough before your event. We’ll learn the property’s rules and procedures, look at how the space is laid out, and determine what equipment we’ll need for your menu and bar service.
We take the same approach with private homes and other event locations. Seeing the property ahead of time helps us prepare for its particular setup and plan service around the space.
Still building your vendor team?
Already have your venue but need recommendations for planners, photographers, DJs, florists, rental companies, or other event professionals? Ask your Rosemary & Rye sales consultant.
This is what we do every day, and we have developed strong relationships with professionals throughout Charleston’s hospitality and events community. We are happy to recommend trusted partners based on your event, priorities, and planning needs.
Interested in working with Rosemary & Rye?
If you manage a venue that is not included here and would like to work with Rosemary & Rye, we would be glad to connect. We can learn more about your property, discuss whether our services are a good fit, and arrange a tour with our team.
Once we have become familiar with the space, we can also add your venue to this directory so prospective clients know that Rosemary & Rye is available to serve there.
