Private Dining

A more personal way to gather.

Private chef dining is designed for smaller gatherings where the meal is an important part of the occasion. It gives you the experience of a thoughtfully planned dinner without asking anyone in the group to cook or step away from the table to host.

Your menu will be created around your preferences and the time of year. Our sample menus offer a sense of what is possible, but they are meant to be a starting point. We will work with you to shape an experience that feels right for the evening you are planning.

Private chef experiences are generally best suited for fewer than 20 guests. If you are planning for a larger group, our full-service social catering team can help you explore other options.

Four-Course Sample Menus

A taste of what we can create.

These menus offer a sense of the different directions a private dinner can take. They are examples rather than fixed packages. Your final menu will be developed around your gathering, with selections adjusted based on the season and ingredient availability.

Executive Chef Tastings

An eight-course experience by Chef Meghan Timby.

Our Executive Chef Tasting is the most immersive private dining experience we offer. Designed and prepared by Executive Chef Meghan Timby, the eight-course menu gives her the freedom to create a complete progression for the table.

Each course builds on the one before it, allowing Chef Meghan to work with seasonal ingredients and techniques that may not fit within a traditional four-course dinner. The result is an experience shaped by her culinary perspective from the first course through dessert.

Executive Chef Tastings are created for the specific evening and may change throughout the year. The menu below is one example of what the experience may include.

What’s Included

More than a meal.

Before your event, our team will work with you to develop the menu and review what will be needed in the space. On the day of your dinner, our chef will prepare the meal on-site. Any servers included in your proposal will manage table service throughout the evening. After the final course, we will handle the kitchen cleanup related to our work.

Staffing will depend on the menu and number of guests. If rentals are needed, we will provide specific guidance on the items and quantities required. We can also recommend rental companies we regularly work with.

Bar service may be added to your experience. Options range from wine service during dinner to a staffed bar with cocktails and zero-proof selections.

Why Rosemary & Rye

What Sets Us Apart

Fully Licensed & Insured

Licensing and insurance may not be the first things you think about when planning a private dinner, but they matter when hiring someone to prepare food and serve guests in your home. Rosemary & Rye carries both as an established catering and bar company.

A Full-Service Team

We plan staffing around your dinner, with experienced servers joining our chefs and professional bartenders available for beverage service. Our team handles preparation through service and cleanup, giving you time to sit down, enjoy the meal, and spend the evening with your guests.

A Reputation You Can Trust

Our reputation comes from years of catering events throughout Charleston and the Lowcountry, earning the trust of clients and local event professionals along the way. We bring that same attention to every private dinner, from the first conversation to the evening itself.

Pricing

How private chef pricing works.

Four-course private chef meals typically begin at $150 per person. This starting price applies to the meal itself and does not include chef fees, service-related fees, or applicable taxes.

The meal price will depend on the menu and number of courses. Ingredient selections may also affect the cost. Guest count determines how much on-site support is needed, while the location and available kitchen may change the equipment or setup required.

The final cost reflects more than what is served at the table. It accounts for the planning and preparation completed before our team arrives, along with the experienced professionals responsible for carrying out the dinner in your home.

Executive Chef Tastings are priced separately because of the additional courses and preparation involved.

Once we understand what you are planning, we will prepare a proposal showing the meal cost and all additional fees. This gives you an accurate picture of the complete experience before you decide to move forward.

Private Chef Provisions

Chef-prepared meals, ready when you are.

Private Chef Provisions is part of our online ordering service, Provisions by R&R. It offers chef-curated meals prepared by the Rosemary & Rye culinary team and packaged for pickup or delivery. When you are ready to eat, simply follow the provided heating and serving instructions.

Because the meal does not include an on-site chef or service staff, Private Chef Provisions offers a more affordable way to enjoy food planned and prepared by a professional culinary team.

It is a great fit for a casual gathering or a bachelorette weekend when your group would rather stay in than find a restaurant that can accommodate everyone. Vacationing families can enjoy a full day out and return to a meal that is ready to heat and serve. It also works well for any night when you want a genuinely good dinner without doing all the cooking yourself.

Available meals and pricing are listed online. Browse the menu, choose pickup or delivery, and place your order in just a few minutes.
