We bought some yummy blast-from-the-past treats on this week’s grocery trip and one of them was an orange creamsicle! I remember eating these as a kid and they were so good! They make me feel like slowing down and really enjoying these longer days with my loved one. I’ve been so inspired by them, I decided to turn this childhood favorite into an orange creamsicle morning smoothie! Yum!
Now that I’m a parent, I’ve been thinking about creative ways to sneak fruit and veggies into little A’s food. Of course, I want her to enjoy a creamsicle now and then, but when I’m thinking of ways to keep breakfast interesting, I think about smoothies. Little A loves drinking smoothies in the morning and it’s the perfect way to sneak some fruit and protein into her meals.

For this smoothie, I used fresh Cara Cara oranges. You can find these at your typical super market and they tend to be deliciously sweet and have the perfect orange flavor for this smoothie. Of course, you can use orange juice instead! We like pulp in our house so I peeled and put in the oranges directly into the smoothie. However, if you prefer, you can just use the juice from the oranges instead! If you’re juicing the oranges, I would recommend using 2x the amount of oranges in my recipe. For a little extra kick, I added turmeric powder to this smoothie as well. The color makes for that nostalgic orange creamsicle hue and you get the zing of turmeric as well. And for a little something sweet, I added honey to this smoothie.

For the hallmark “cream” part of the orange cream smoothie, I use Wallaby Organic® Whole Milk Greek Style Yogurtfor a rich, creamy base. It’s an Australian style yogurt and it’s slow crafted with organic milk for an ultra-creamy texture. I like the Greek Style Yogurt for little A because it fills her up! We like the plain flavor because it’s super versatile to use in both savory and sweet recipes.
In addition to tasting great Wallaby Organic’s parent company, Danone North America is a Certified B Corporation®.
